Insider: Abiola A Olusola
Take a glimpse inside the launch party of Abiola A Olusola’s debut fashion collection.
During the brand’s hotly anticipated launch event, hosted here at Temple Muse, emerging Nigerian designer Abiola A Olusola unveiled her debut AW17 collection.
Joined by an array of close friends and industry insiders including journalist Keturah King and sisters Georgina and Kessiana Edewor-Thorley, the emerging designer mingled with guests as she offered attendees an exclusive look at her contemporary African-inspired designs.
Abiola, who is both the creative director and founder of the eponymous label, believes that dressing should be effortless and chic. Having studied Fashion design in Paris, Abiola earned her fashion credentials working for famed French fashion houses, such as Givenchy and Lanvin.
Her designs have featured on runways across the world and have even graced the pages of Vogue Italia. Her debut collection, dubbed ‘Emi’ is heavily inspired by contemporary African women and aims to give Yoruba heritage a contemporary spin.
With an emphasis on forms, shapes, colours, and local fabrics, the collection was locally made in Nigeria.
A new installation, immersed in the brand’s ethos, is now open at Temple Muse.
