New Year, New You

The new year has finally arrived, and with it, a brand new decade has been ushered into our world, providing you with a clean slate to get out there and achieve all that you couldn’t reach in 2019. It’s a new year, and it’s a new you. It’s time to shed the bad habits, time wasters, and distractions of the year past so you can really commit to those new years’ resolutions.

If you expect to see changes this year, then you know you need to restructure your days. You can’t keep doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results. Trust me, we know!

That’s why we want to share some of our recommendations to help make your 2020 amazing. What are they? We’re glad you asked!

Prioritize Your Health

Did you know, on average, 55% of world’s population report feeling stressed every single day? Thanks to the demands of today, the pressure, and the technology at our fingertips, we’re expected to be everywhere all at once. While that’s happening, we can forget about our personal health, cutting into our sleep, our eating habits, and exercise.

Make a commitment to your health this year. Wake up an hour earlier to meal prep and get in a 30-minute run. Invest in your body.

Let Go of Negative Thinking Patterns

When we end up in negative ruts, all of our thoughts can revolve around that negativity. When you wake up in the morning, make a commitment to positivity. Do this through a brief meditative session in which you make yourself aware of your negative thoughts, working proactively to turn that around. See the glass half full.

Embrace failure

By embracing failure, you free yourself from the “what if i fail” hold on you and are accepting any outcome as a part of your life’s journey; think about how freeing that could be! While some things are out of your control, failure and success often go hand-in-hand, just take a look at anyone who ever achieved something great, it’s most often not the first attempt.

This year, don’t do yourself the disservice of standing still, try and try again!

Clean Out Your Closet

Marie Kondo taught us last year that by tidying out our spaces and getting rid of things that “don’t bring us joy,” we will feel happier and more organized. Audit your closet and get rid of the clothing you do not wear. However, be sustainable in your cleaning.

Don’t forget to donate the clothing to local shelters and programs to help the homeless – don’t just throw it out.

Reduce Your Carbon Footprint

We all need to do our part to save the planet. With the bush fires in Australia, the rising temperatures, and the increased frequency of natural disasters, do your part to reduce your carbon footprint – get a composting bin, recycle more, and carpool (if you can!)

Make Time for Those You Love

No matter how busy you are, make sure you make time for those that you love in your life this year. Don’t ever make family, lovers, or friends feel like they come second to a job. Invest in the people who make you happy.
